Congressional Muslims target of psychological operation

Scott Bennett, a former US military psychological warfare officer and political commentator, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV about a series of attacks on the legislators. Bennett pointed to US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.)’s ”rising up and having the courage to speak the truth regarding Israel and AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee).” Omar and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) became the first Muslim members of the House of Representatives in January. Both have been outspoken about their criticism of Israel’s crimes against the people of Palestine. Last month, Omar wrote a series of tweets, including one in which she said, “It’s all about the Benjamins,” suggesting that many of her fellow lawmakers were beholden to the AIPAC’s pro-Israel lobbying interests. She, however, apologized afterwards when Democratic leadership condemned the tweets. Separately, a poster was reportedly hung in the West Virginia statehouse by Republicans linking the Muslim lawmaker to the 9/11 attacks. “So, we’re witnessing a very interesting layering of propaganda and it starts with layering upon the Muslims in Congress,” Bennett said on Sunday. “I think this is part of a vast psychological operation by the deep state and neocons and the Zionists, as we’ve seen with the arrest of Marzieh Hashemi,” the pundit noted. Hashemi, a 59-year-old American-born Muslim convert and Press TV journalist, who has lived in Iran for years, was detained at St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Missouri on January 13th while in the US to visit her ill brother and other family members. She was given no reason for her detention and held incommunicado for days, but was finally released 10 days later after US officials failed to file any charges against her. Bennett, however, said, “The world, and especially the American people, are not buying the propaganda.”
